Minutes
of the 1986 meeting
|
The Clerk welcomed, on behalf of the society, visitors, Derek Holt, Captain - 1962 and Denis Theaker, Captain - 1968, who presented the Society with some of Ben Hird's photographs and other items of considerable interest. With the strong interest in the sport aid events, it was suggested that the first end after Luncheon should be 'An Arrow for Africa' with contributions in inverse proportion to their scores - Gold, one shilling - Red, two shillings, etc., down to a miss at one pound. A suggestion that half these rates be applied to the Longbowmen met with short shrift. The business of the 278th Recorded Meeting was commenced with a toast to the Society and the Arrow. The Clerk dealt with correspondence, commencing with H M The Queen's gracious reply to our loyal address. Apologies were received, from Bud Broughton, and Alain Holt, for their absence. The question of dress was discussed and it was agreed that we should continue to encourage Gentlemen to mark the prestige of the meetings, but without making an issue of failure to conform. A request was received for a supply of ties and cravats, the Clerk undertook to deal with this matter. The meeting closed with a toast to the Captain-Elect and Lieutenant-Elect. |
